Itinerary.

Choquequirao is a magical Inca city located southeast of the city of Cusco, between the Apurimac River and the mountain range of Vilcabamba, where the snowy Salkantay stands at a height of 6 271 m.a.s.l. (20575 ft.). It is an exciting hike, which combines the different heights of the highlands of Peru with a variety of wildlife. The range that this hike offers us is to see some species that are in extinction such is the case of the Andean condor, the puma and the spectacled bear. This area served as a refuge and natural fortress for the sixteenth Inca resistance movement of the sixteenth century, in this area is preserved in the oral tradition that this place is located in the GOLD, even hidden for archeology. There is another Inca road network that connected the areas of Espiritu Pampa, Ñusta Hispana, Vilcabamba la Antigua, Vitcos, Rosas Pampa.

DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIKISKA

Our journey will begin very early leaving Cusco city towards the town of Cachora, whose journey will take 4 hours in the town of Cachora we will meet the people who will accompany us throughout the journey to achieve our goal, cooks, porters, muleteers, among others, after a short break we will begin our hike to the first camp in Chiquisca to reach an altitude of (2900 m.a.s.l.).

DAY 2: CHIKISKA – SANTA ROSA

Early in the morning we will have our delicious breakfast to start a wonderful hike descending to the Apurimac canyon.

The recommendation for this day is to lighten the weight of the backpack to avoid tiredness and fatigue due to the excessive heat, we will have lunch in the sector of Rosalinas beach, after this break we will ascend for a period of 2:30 hrs. to the camp of Santa Rosa, where we will spend the night and dinner, in this camp we will enjoy a typical drink.

DAY 3: SANTA ROSA – CHOQUEQUIRAO

We will wake up early to first have breakfast and then start our walk to take advantage of the coolness of the morning, because at noon the heat becomes unbearable, the walk will be 4 hrs. to the place of Maranpata here we will stop to energize us with our lunch in this sector, in the afternoon we will arrive to the archaeological group of Choquequirao, we will spend the night in the terraces of this place.

DAY 4: CHOQUEQUIRAO – CHIKISKA

In the morning we will visit the whole archaeological complex as well as the site museum where we will observe some of the pieces found during the excavations. After our spectacular visit to these marvelous museums and spectacular archaeological complex we will start our return, we will have lunch in the area of Santa Rosa, place of Chiquisca camp.

DAY 5: CHIKISKA – CACHORA – CUSCO

Early in the morning we will have breakfast and then ascend our first step and go to the town of Cachora, where our other team will be waiting for us with transportation to return to the city of Cusco, before boarding the bus we will have lunch and thank all the people who accompanied us during the walk, then we will continue our journey to reach the city of Cusco at 6:00 pm.
