DETAILED ITINERARY:

It is an adventure trip to the apu Ausangate trek 5d/4n, through the spectacular scenic places of the Andes, we will be amazed by the beauty of the whole area. We will have the chance to meet the traditional native Quechua who lived at 14,000 feet above sea level and who tend their herds of llamas and alpacas in the isolated region of the Cordillera Vilcanota, among glaciers, colorful lakes. We will also have a good chance to appreciate in full flight the Condors which is one of the largest flying birds in the world and the Andean fauna the Andean camelids like vicuña, practically extinct elsewhere.

 

DAY 01.- CUSCO – TINKI – UPIS

Early in the morning we will leave Cusco city towards the town of Tinki traveling the route of the south valley, arriving to the town we will pass through several districts, we will appreciate several chapels and lagoons after 3 hours of travel we will arrive to the town of Tinki located at 3700 meters above sea level.
After lunch; we will begin the walk through a dry climate, with little vegetation (ecological floor puna) after approx. 3 hours of walking we will stop for lunch, and to be able to appreciate part of the majestic snowy Ausangate (6337 m.a.s.l.) after lunch we will continue walking for about 2 hours more until arriving to our camp Upis (4200 m.a.s.l.).

 

DAY 02.- UPIS – AUSANGATECOCHA.

After breakfast we will continue the hike ascending for about 4 hours until we arrive to the Arapa pass (4850 m.a.s.l.) and then descend until we find the appropriate place to have lunch, we will walk through trails where we can see wild animals, in this area we will find 3 beautiful lagoons, the three of different shades these are: Yanacocha, HatunPukacocha, and Qomerqocha. After lunch we will continue along the route surrounded by snow-capped peaks, we will ascend to the second pass the pass of Apuchata (4900 m.a.s.l.) walking for about 2 hours, after reaching the summit we will descend for about half an hour to the camp Ausangatecocha (4440m.a.s.l.).

 

DAY 03.- AUSANGATECOCHA -Q’AMPA.

This day we will begin the trek early in the morning to ascend for about 2 hours to the third pass, the Palomani pass (5200 m.a.s.l.). m) this is the highest point in the whole route, then we will descend another 2 hours, seeing American camelids like, llamas, alpacas, and wild animals like the Vizcacha, and also mountains and glaciers and we will arrive to Pampa cancha place where we will have lunch (4050 m.a.s.l.), after lunch we will climb to our camp in Q’ampa (4300 m.a.s.l.) taking approx. 3 hours.

 

DAY 04: Q’AMPA – PACHANTA.

After breakfast we will walk for approx. 2 hours until we arrive to the pass of Q’ampa (5000 m.a.s.l.), then we will descend for approx. 5 hours until the lagoon of Qomercocha and then we will arrive to Pacchanta (4100 m.a.s.l.), this is a small community with attractive thermal waters, where we will enjoy the relax.

 

DAY 05: PACHANTA – TINKI – CUSCO.

In the morning we will leave Pacchanta and start the return to Tinki, we will walk about 2 hours, once in Tinki, we will take the transport that will take us to Cusco, arriving to Cusco in the afternoon.

 

The program includes:

Pick up from the hotel and transportation to the town of Tinki.
Local guide in English and Spanish.
Food: 04 breakfasts, 04 lunches, 04 dinners.
Cook with all his cooking equipment.
Equipment: Quadruple tents for two people, dining tent, kitchen tent, tables, chairs.
Accommodation for the guide, cook and muleteers.
Muleteers (in charge of the horses).
Horses (transporting food and equipment).
1 emergency horse
Boiled water every morning
First aid kit,
Oxygen balloon
Transportation from Tinki to Cusco.

 

Not included:

Breakfast on the first day and lunch on the last day.
Tips for muleteers and guide.
